Suparna Basu, M.D.

Dr. Basu is a humanistic, compassionate board-certified psychiatrist experienced in treating adults of all ages for anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, schizophrenia, OCD, PTSD, postpartum depression, and seasonal affective disorder (SAD). She believes the human connection is an essential part of the therapeutic plan. Dr. Basu provides a calm, nonjudgmental environment where individuals of all backgrounds and beliefs can relax and discuss their difficulties.

Dr. Basu was born in Delhi, India, and received her medical degree and training from the Institute of Medicine in Kathmandu, Nepal. She was a South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) scholar and completed a psychiatric residency program at North Shore Long Island Jewish Hospital.

Dr. Basu believes that the therapeutic relationship is a collaborative process that begins in the first session. From the very beginning, she will rely on a combination of evidence-based medicine and patient understanding to determine a diagnosis and initiate the best treatment plan for each patient.

Dr. Basu recognizes the value of cultural diversity and similarities, differences in gender, race, age, sex, ethnicity, education, country of origin, and language. Her goal is to build a bond with each patient and be a valued member of their healing team.
