Monica Van Deventer, LPC
Monica is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor who works with families and individuals (ages 16+) to address depression, anxiety, the effects of various types of traumas, grief, life transitions, and low self-worth. She also works with parents who need guidance navigating their relationship with their child, while increasing confidence in supporting their child’s mental health needs.
Monica received her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Georgia and a B.S. in Psychology from Valdosta State University.
Monica has a warm, comforting, and gentle presence which she uses to help her clients feel heard, seen, and understood. Monica is passionate about the therapeutic relationship and cares deeply about each client’s process. She enjoys teaching clients about self-compassion and how to regulate their nervous system.
Monica emphasizes the importance of the brain-body connection and helps strengthen this relationship through mindfulness techniques. Monica is also trained in Brain Spotting, an advanced brain-body therapy that is effective in healing from trauma, reducing mental-emotional distress, and moving through fixed and cyclical thoughts and feelings. She wants clients to know they can rewire the neural pathways in their brains to experience life how they wish. works to help clients recognize their strengths, change negative core beliefs, and learn how to heal from the past so they can move forward with a renewed vision for their life. Monica teaches her clients skills that will propel them forward in life once they graduate from therapy.
She offers a holistic perspective and incorporates interventions from Strength-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (SB-CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
Monica joined Restorative in 2024. She sees clients in the Roswell and Buckhead offices, and via telehealth. When she is not counseling, you can find her in nature hiking and rock climbing, in the gym, or spending quality time with her friends and family.
